Big Belly Big Baby

{our little boy}

I'm officially 35 weeks pregnant, but after an ultrasound showed that our little boy is almost 7 lbs already, my doctor thinks I'm more like 37 weeks along (man, do I sure look like it!). Oh my!

{Big Mama}

I don't know why this has thrown me for a loop, but I've been frantically running around the house trying to get things ready for the baby and packing my hospital bag (is this what they call "nesting"??). The thought that I could go into labor any day now has me wishing I hadn't procrastinated.

House Progress - My Office / Den

Since my husband has his "Man Room", I decided I needed a space to let my inner girly-girl go crazy. The room looked like this when we moved in last Spring...

It wasn't really my taste, so I decided to paint the walls and built-ins a crisp white by Donald Kauffman (color DK67) which I absolutely love.

On the opposite side of the room from the built-ins is a niche with a skylight above. I used a table cloth as a make-shift slipcover to go over an old futon we've had for ages. I found this little area a great place for afternoon napping!

It also gets great afternoon sunlight which the plants love! The swan planter was a find from Anthropologie.

I also found the niche to be the perfect spot for the ever-so-popular west elm capiz shell chandelier that was sitting in a closet waiting for a home. The comfy lumbar pillows are from Amy Butler.

I have plenty of space for bins and storage in the built-in cubbies. I left the other desk area without a chair because my husband I are rarely in here at the same time so there is really no need.

The interiors of the upper cabinets are painted in BM Peony (with a hint of white to lighten it up a bit).

I decided to lean an oil painted that was looking for a home against the window. My husband hates the painting (he calls it"motel art"), but I like it so in my den it goes. The window has a pretty undesirable view of the neighbor's house, so I don't mind covering it up one bit. The room still needs some tweeking, but this pregnant chick is tired, so it's good enough for now. : )

Photographer Crush

I'm still totally bogged down with a million things to do these days. My house is a wreck from the painters that were here all last week and my kitchen tile is still not finished (I ran out of tile...who said I was good at math?).

I just wanted to share with you all one of my favorite blogs/photographer, Jessica Claire. I loved her style so much, we hired her to photograph our wedding in Cabo San Lucas 4 years ago. She is young and energetic and just all around a fun person which, I think, is apparent in her photography style. Here are some of my favorite Jessica Claire photos...

A Clever Idea & Kitchen Sneak Preview

Check out Design Sponge for details on this project. I'm going to give this one a try someday!

Here's what's going on at my house...

Woohoo, new subway tile is being installed in the kitchen!

Our plain old white melamine cabinets are being painted today - I can't wait to see the finished product. In the meantime, I have to vacate the house due to all of the fumes. Off to the in-laws house for a few days.

Cupcakes Cupcakes Everywhere

{little birdie cupcakes from baby shower #1}

{butterfly cupcakes from baby shower #2}

(I'm slowly recovering from cupcake withdrawl)

So, I'm still completely busy this week and won't be able to post for a couple more days. However, I'm so excited to get back into blogging action because I have some great things to show you - some updates from my home (a van full of painters are working hard as I write this post!) and MIL's house as well as baby shower recaps. Now, back to writing thank you notes courtesy of Pink Loves Brown/Making It Lovely (love them!!).

Swamped

First of all, I want to thank everyone for leaving such sweet (and funny) comments, stories and well wishes. You really know how to make a girl feel all warm and fuzzy.

Second, I've been absolutely crazy busy this week trying to get ready for houseguests and helping to organize my baby shower(s) (I know, control freak much?). I have two this weekend (lucky me!) and I'm beyond excited to see all of my friends and family! I won't have much time to post anything until next week.

Since my brain is occupied with all things baby shower, I wanted to point you to my all time favorite baby shower post courtesy of Mrs.Limestone (hostess with the mostest/renovator/DIY-er extraordinaire). She helped to organize an INCREDIBLE event. It's a stunner!

See you later, my friends.

Never Tell a Pregnant Woman That "She's HUGE"

I don't care if she's carrying octuplets. The last thing a pregnant woman wants to hear from people is that she looks massive. Come on, people. Of course I'm aware that I look like Humpty Dumpty right now, but just LIE TO MY FACE and tell me I don't.

The End.
