Taking Baby Steps

The nursery is slowly coming along. We painted over the weekend (used BM Aura color: China Blue) and it was exhausting. Who knew that painting a room while pregnant would be so hard? My husband was sweet and offered to do the whole thing himself, but being the perfectionist/control freak that I am, I did all of the cutting in and he rolled.

I decided to splurge on the bedding and went with this fresh style in a lime green from Serena and Lily. I figured we got such fabulous deals on all of the other nursery items so far, I could get away with going all out on the bedding.

This is the mobile I decided upon. It's from Adrift Mobiles and I just love it's simplicity. I didn't really fall in love with any of the more traditional baby mobiles that attach to the crib. Although they are handcrafted from beautiful woods and bamboo, I'm considering painting each piece a different color coordinating with the nursery. We'll have to see.

My next task is to find a glider/rocker. I can't seem to find one that I think is both great looking and comfortable. I'm short, so the many that I've tried are just too big/deep for me. I feel like "Edith/Lily Tomlin"...

I love the color. Sweet and airy without being too girly. I can't wait to see the rest of the pieces fall into place.

I love that bedding. I just got the Serena & Lily catalog yesterday and I feel in love with a lot of the bedding for me!

It's looking great so far. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Your nursery is really coming along! I love the paint color, and your bedding is beautiful - definitely worth the splurge.

Someone advised us (18 years ago!) to buy our glider/rocker for our den rather than the baby's room because you tend to rock them, feed them, etc. there more than in their room. That turned out to be such great advice, and we still use that rocker. It's now in our master bedroom and squeaks something terrible, but it's my husband's chair of choice when doing work or watching TV (when it was in our den, that chair was always the first one occupied). I would like to replace it, but I haven't found a current model that I like. Ours is a Dutailier and is dark wood and very traditional. I've had the cushions recovered at least four times. Please keep us posted on which model you choose.
