House Progress - Dining Room

So, I painted the dining room for the third time (yes, I'm crazy) and this time I actually think I like it. The color is a slightly "doctored" version (I added more blue) of Benjamin Moore's "Oystershell" which looks like a faint robin's egg blue.

I found some great prints from art.com that echo the warm neutrals and blues of the room.

I'm thinking I might find a different fabric for the chair seats. However, these are on loan from my sister-in-law, so I have to make sure I can just upholster over the current fabric without harming the chairs. What do you think?

I'm loving the little window area for putting random items that I love as well as some plants that need some TLC (like my poor orchids). I'm planning in getting another mini evergreen for the other side and will decorate them for Christmas. I can't wait to get started on decorating for the Holidays!

Very nice but Im not helping you as I liked the last version too.

Can I ask a silly question - are you using flash in your photos? I feel like the wood in the dining rooms chairs look super bright compared to everything else but that might be because of the flash rather than how they appear in person.

Hi Mrs.L! My camera is a total dud...if I don't use flash the pictures come out completely blurry. I'm asking Santa for a new one this year!

It's frustrating because I know that the rooms look so much better IRL than they do in my pics. Oh well. :(

I love the blue! It looks great and it does warm up the space. You were quite adventurous to mix 2 paint colors!

my orchids need help too - wish I had the window ledge that you do to help revive them...good job on the room!

I don't know what kind of camera you are using but it might not be the camera making it blurry. If you dont have a lot of natural light in the room, you may need to ensure you aren't shaking the camera while the shutter closes. Try this on a sunny day - leave the curtains open and all the lights on. Then set up the camera on something so you are not holding it and depress the shutter that way. (you could also try holding it while leaning against a wall to steady yourself)

Loves it! It's really light and airy now! And the window vignette is so pretty! You really know how to put everything together, T!

Thanks Everyone!

Mrs.L - thanks for the advice! I will definitely give it a try. I've done something similar before without flash and it's kind of hit or miss with my camera. It's a cheapo Nikon that's really old. I'm overdue for a new one especially since we're expecting a baby (lots of pics to be taken!). Thanks again!

I'm loving the color you chose for the dining room. I was working on a designers show house here in Buffalo just these past few days, and could have really used the paint code! :) May have to come back and borrow it!
