NEED I SAY MORE?
I need to choose one of the colors - they obviously don't work together. Gray or Green? Opinions??
My dining room is Ugly with a capital "U". "Fernwood Green" turned out to be too, hmmm ferny. I neutralized it a bit with some of the gray color and a tad bit of white and it turned out exactly like I wanted it. The gray however, is not good at all. "Silver Fox" is gorgeous on it's own, a beautiful warm gray. Once I painted the green above the chair rail, all of the purple undertones became apparent in the gray color. Oh, and now I can't stand the white trim. I think the previous owners just used "white" straight from the can. Ugh. This is one ugly room. The good news is that the green is looking great with the green silk drapes that I am using in the adjoining living room! A small "Yaaay".
My color instructor would definitely give me a "D" for this painting mess. : (

Gray....most definitely!! I love when dining rooms are gray. I think it's super glamorous!!
i'm digging the green. guess roxy and i cancel each other's votes out!
Teresa, I actually love the color combo in a more modern space! I think you did a great job!
Can I ever relate!!!
T, if it makes you feel any better, I once painted a bathroom a color that looked like, well, crap. Literally.
I'm on a gray kick but I actually think the green is delish and ties into your LR scheme. So green!
I vote for the green. The gray is pretty too, though, but I think you're right about the two colors having different undertones.
Im totally biased but I like the gray more than the green. I just think it adds a bit of a contemporary feel and works as a nice contrast with the light fixture and furniture.
If you need some help putting you over the edge, green light on food generally makes it more unappetizing. Not that this shade is overwelming but hey - Im told green is a no-no where food is involved.
I'd go with a grey-green, like Benjamin Moore Creekside Green and paint the white trim a more creamy white. I love gray too, but I think with all the natural light and beautiful view in your room, the green would look much better. I did this in my home office with a fresh green (brookside moss actually) surrounding the window and it really makes the colours in the trees outside pop.
I like the grey.
You know, I don't mind them together - not from the photos anyway - but it certainly a more contemporary look that wouldn't work with the chairs from your SIL. I painted a room (bedroom) the green color you chose, (similar) and used chocolate brown on the ceiling. I loved it - so did the home owner. I don't know - I love the blue - but this would have been a fun combo to run with!
